Extract Audio from Video

Free online tool to extract audio from video (MP4, MOV, WebM and more). Keep the original audio track without re-encoding, or convert it to MP3, M4A, WAV or Opus — all in your browser, no upload.

About this tool

Pull the soundtrack out of any video file. Keep the original audio track without re-encoding when its codec can be exported directly, or convert it to MP3, M4A, WAV or Opus. WAV is uncompressed PCM, but cannot restore quality already lost in the source. Everything runs locally in your browser — nothing is ever uploaded.

How to use

  1. Click or drag to select a video file
  2. Preview the video and check its audio track
  3. Keep the original track, or choose an output format and bitrate
  4. Click extract and download the audio

FAQ

Which video formats are supported?

MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and most other common formats can be read. If your browser cannot decode the video or audio track, the tool will let you know.

Which output format should I choose?

Keep original track is fastest and does not re-encode the audio; the export file is chosen automatically to match the source codec. MP3 plays on virtually any device. M4A (AAC) works great on Apple devices. WAV converts audio to uncompressed PCM, so it is large and does not restore quality already lost in the source. Opus is small but is not supported everywhere.

Will the audio quality match the original?

Keeping the original track avoids any additional audio quality loss. Re-encoding to a lossy format always trades a little quality. WAV does not use lossy compression, but it cannot restore detail already lost in an MP3, AAC or other lossy source.

Are my videos uploaded to a server?

No. Decoding and encoding all run locally in your browser. Your files never leave your device.
