Video to GIF

Turn a video clip into an animated GIF in your browser. Choose the time range, frame rate and width, then download — no upload.

About this tool

Create a shareable animated GIF from the best part of a video. Pick the start and end time, frame rate and output width; the conversion runs entirely in your browser and your video never leaves your device. GIF files have no audio and use a limited color palette, so short clips work best.

How to use

  1. Click or drag to select a video file
  2. Enter the start and end time for the clip you want
  3. Choose a frame rate and output width
  4. Click "Convert to GIF" and download the animated GIF

FAQ

Why is my GIF much larger than expected?

GIF stores many full-color-limited images, so file size grows quickly with duration, frame rate and dimensions. Use a shorter clip, lower frame rate or a smaller width for a lighter GIF.

Does a GIF keep the video audio?

No. The GIF format contains animated images only and has no audio track.

What settings should I choose?

For most chat and social posts, 5–10 seconds at 8–10 fps and 480px wide is a good balance of smoothness and file size.

Are my videos uploaded to a server?

No. Frames are decoded and encoded locally in your browser. Your files never leave your device.
