Trim Video

Free online video trimmer with two modes: near-instant lossless cutting or frame-precise re-encoding. Runs entirely in your browser — no upload.

About this tool

Cut out exactly the part of a video you want to keep. Choose Fast mode to copy the data without re-encoding — near-instant and lossless, with the cut point snapping to the nearest keyframe — or Precise mode to re-encode for frame-exact cuts exported as MP4. Everything is processed locally in your browser.

How to use

  1. Click or drag to select a video file
  2. Preview the video to find the segment you want
  3. Enter the start and end time in seconds, and pick Fast or Precise mode
  4. Click "Trim" and download the cut video

FAQ

Which mode should I choose?

Fast mode is the default and right for most cases — it finishes almost instantly with zero quality loss. Pick Precise mode when the exact cut point matters, such as cutting on a specific frame.

Why does Fast mode start slightly earlier than I specified?

Video is stored as keyframes plus delta frames, and a copied segment can only start at a keyframe. Fast mode snaps the cut to the nearest keyframe, which may be up to a few seconds earlier. Precise mode re-encodes and cuts exactly where you asked.

What format is the output?

Fast mode keeps the original container (MP4 or WebM) since nothing is re-encoded. Precise mode always exports MP4 (AVC + AAC), which plays on virtually any device.

Are my videos uploaded to a server?

No. Decoding and encoding all run locally in your browser. Your files never leave your device.
